Google India has launched SMS at search 9773300000. Unlike other SMS services this is not a premium shortcode
number(ex: 8668) and you will be paying only the normal SMS charges. The
list of queries supported <http://www.google.co.in/mobile/default/sms/ > is
quite extensive and in my limited testing most of them worked and most of
the time the replies were instantaneous. Google India Launches SMS Search @

PNR search, Horoscopes, Stock Quotes and local search (ex: pizza alwarpet
chennai) worked well while “news” did not work at all.I received a gibberish
reply which the phone couldn’t make any sense out of .The nice touch is that
if you do a local search Google associates that locale with your phone
number. So you need not type it again for further queries. Google returns 3
results for the local search queries and if you can reply “next” for more
results.
Though it is a little buggy, the service is a step in the right direction.
For commodity information like stock quotes and news paying a premium to
shortcode services just doesn’t make sense. This can also become a
competitor to justdial.com if the service is supported and enhanced by Google. Horoscopesvirgo
